AKGUN Breeze at the Panels

AKGUN General Manager Mr. Hakan KARATAŞ took part as a speaker in the panel titled "Artificial Intelligence: From Evidence to Practice in Health Service Delivery" on November 17, 2021 within the scope of HIMSS EURASIA.

At the panel, our General Manager, Mr. Hakan KARATAŞ, said “We are on the verge of a technological revolution that will radically change human life and that is in no way similar to the previous experiences of humanity. Especially with the pandemic, this process has accelerated. The amount of data that can be useful to the physician trying to determine the best strategy for the patient among the new researches, new treatment methods and existing methods in the health sector, which has the largest share in this technological revolution, is at astonishing levels. In addition, as for the patient, large amounts of data are also produced from sources such as medical imaging, vital data collected by biosensors, genome sequencing, and electronic medical records.”

Mr. Karataş said “In the future, genomics, digital medicine and artificial intelligence will have a huge impact on patient care. Emerging technologies including tele-medicine, smartphone applications, biosensors for remote diagnosis and monitoring, speech recognition and automatic image interpretation will be particularly important to healthcare professionals.  It is possible to benefit from these technologies with a digital platform that works in an integrated way and is powered by artificial intelligence. With the correct use of relevant technologies, it will be possible to offer effective and rational personalized treatment on an individual basis. Therefore, almost every clinician, from specialist to paramedic, will use artificial intelligence technology. In medicine, the use and interaction of human and artificial intelligence has only just started. We are still at the bottom of the ladder in the most studied areas which are radiology, pathology, dermatology, eye, gastroenterology, cardiology, neurology etc."

In his speech, Mr. Hakan KARATAŞ said, “Following closely the major developments in the fields of genetics, artificial intelligence and the internet of things (IoT) for value-based service delivery in prehospital prevention, personalized treatment, chronic patient treatment and follow-up, personal disease/health life management, we must impose these on our own systems. To achieve the highest benefit with technological developments, it is necessary to accompany the health service model with significant changes.  It is possible to achieve not only a personalized treatment approach to the patient but also a “value-based service business model” approach.  In this context, “patient-oriented” business models and a “citizen-oriented” service model will be provided in the near future.  The Internet of Things offers great opportunities in value-based healthcare delivery and to improve healthcare delivery operations and healthcare outcomes, reduce costs and increase efficiency. To realize these opportunities, it is necessary to take advantage of IoT technologies as soon as possible. It may happen in the next 10-15 years or even earlier; it is expected that systems that integrate, suggest and direct citizen health/life data (genomics, biosensors, physical activity, drug use, examination and analysis results, family history, mood, medical history, etc.) collected from various sources, in other words that perform “virtual coaching”, will be formed.”

Making a brief introduction to the smart corporate digital hospital and HIMSS Stage 7, our intensive care, smart health, artificial intelligence applications and AKGUN tele-health and virtual hospital platform, our General Manager finished his speech stating that "We use the latest technologies and include them in our products to reduce medical errors, early diagnosis, development of decision support systems in the treatment process, and also to establish a data-based management approach.  We are like a business partner to our customers and other stakeholders.  We have overcome many challenges and invested in being able to do more.  We have developed Domestic and National Competitive products.  We want to carry our experience in Turkey to foreign markets more.”

AKGUN Determines the Roadmap of Health

Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of AKGUN, Mr. Ahmet Hamdi ATALAY took part as a speaker at the panel on "Post-Pandemic Health Management Roadmap" on November 18, 2021.

At the panel, Mr. Ahmet Hamdi ATALAY started his speech by talking about AKGUN Technology. Mr. ATALAY stated that “Our main focus is the health sector" and emphasized that "We have products that have been commercialized and used in the field on artificial intelligence, which is trending now and will be talked about more in the future."

Our Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors said “5.2 billion of the 8 billion people living in the world use mobile technologies. This means the number of people who carry mobile phones in their pockets.  This number is higher than the number of people brushing their teeth in the world.  We need to create the roadmap we will implement by knowing and seeing these facts.”

Mr. Ahmet Hamdi ATALAY stated that the new trend in the use of technology in health shifted from a "hospital" focused understanding to a "patient" focused understanding. Regarding the trends that may affect the health issue, Mr. ATALAY said “Digital transformation in health has started for all countries. First we go digital and then we realize the digital transformation.” He emphasized that digitalization in health ceased to be a “preference” and became a “must”.  Our Deputy Chairman expressed that "When we say "Digital Transformation", the mentality needs to change, business models need to change.  Here, also, the human factor comes into play.  Maybe we will be pushing this stage from now on.  With our infrastructures in place, we have electronicized our processes and systems, but the dimension we call as the HUMAN dimension is the dimension that we should put forward as a roadmap from now on.”
